My client is a leading specialist insurer in Commercial and Personal Lines insurance with an unrivalled reputation within their niche lines of business. They are a market leader and are seen as an employer of choice offering exciting and sought after roles. Due to continued success and profitable growth they now have a vacancy for a Development Underwriter to work within their Private Clients team.

This role will be responsible for finding, developing, underwriting and growing new business opportunities within the Leeds / Yorkshire region and will concentrate on Personal Lines, VIP, Art and HNW products. You will actively identify opportunities to cross-sell and build the whole business.

This is a superb role that is also key in the continued success of my clients Leeds branch.

The ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:

•A minimum of two years relevant development underwriting experience in commercial property or personal lines experience with previous underwriting experience.
•ACII qualification or progression towards qualification
•Demonstrable drive, self motivation and determination to achieve results
•Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus
•Able to apply consideration to potential outcomes and to make decisions with supervision in difficult and complex situations. Able to make logical decisions by using key facts available
•Strong influencing, negotiation and leadership skills
•Consistently demonstrates behaviours conducive to achieving both personal and team objectives
•Preferably degree qualified with a minimum of 2 A levels at grade C or above, although this is not a pre-requisite for an experienced underwriter

To clarify, my client is open to see experienced commercial underwriters that have at least 2 years experience in developing new business, as the right candidate will be trained on the relevant products.
