Katie Byres update

Exchange Street has been sponsoring aspiring local athlete Katie Byres and we have been following her development closely over the past few months.

Unfortunately Katie has not made the Olympics team despite her best efforts. She had been told that she would be picked as long as she cleared the qualifying standard of 4.50m in an outdoors competition but whilst Katie did jump over this height during the indoor season, the weather conditions have been hopeless for pole vaulting during all of the outdoor season so she hasn’t been able to give it her best shot.

However, she is competing in Barcelona at the World Junior Championships which take place in Barcelona from the 10th to the 15th July, where she has a real chance of Gold. All the events are being televised on Eurosport so anyone wishing to see her in action will be able to do so.
